As a Registered Nurse, Midwife, and Child and Family Health Nurse my career has spanned over 27 years. I am also a Circle of Security facilitator.
Along with my husband I have four daughters - 3 birth children and 1 step daughter. I am also a grandmother.
My parenting role and professional life have taken me on a captivating journey, exploring the needs of children and the parent-child relationship. Through my own parenting struggles and joys, plus observing and learning from my clients’ journeys, I have been motivated to pursue a deeper understanding of parenting and human relationships.
Authors such as Daniel Siegel, Tina Bryson, the work of the creators of the “Circle of Security”, plus the work of Bruce Perry have influenced my understanding of the parent-child relationship. In particular the ongoing research into brain development has shaped how I think about parenting. This research and the effects of digitalisation on our children, families and society, are my keen interests.

Being a mum of two adopted Taiwanese daughters has provided me with 15 years of amazing learning and growth. Being a parent is a tough job. Being a parent of an adopted child adds another layer. Researching adoption and the needs of an adopted child has greatly influenced how I parent.
Combined with nearly 30 years experience as a psychotherapist and supervisor I have had a rich source of learning about relationships, trauma, connection and attachment and how these together weave a life tapestry that can be added to in wonderful ways.
I find supporting and educating parents about attachment, trauma, emotional and brain development incredibly rewarding. Understanding leads to empowerment. Being part of parents coming to understand what drives their child’s behaviour and finding ways to connect with their child is my passion.
