Humans are built to connect. Building connection begins in utero and continues throughout life.

There are many ways for the connection or attachment process to be interrupted. Adoption and fostering experiences are included in these interruptions.

What we know is attachment interruption affects brain development. This shows up in a child’s ability to learn, regulate their emotions, and connect with others.

Repair of the impact of this interruption in connection is possible. Repair requires an understanding of the attachment process, brain development and function, as well as emotional development.

When we understand the ‘why’ of behaviour we are more able to know the ‘how’ to respond to and support our children - how to nurture well. Setting our kids and families up for success in life. To thrive, to live, to love.

We best help our children develop emotional health when we are willing to grow at the same time.
